This originally came out of a Tennessee estate and was brought back by a 45th Infantry soldier. It took me many years to convince the gentleman who got it out of the woodwork to part with the jacket but eventually we agreed to a price which was fair to the both of us. Unfortunately it is not named. The RZM tags on the underside of the boards are sequentially similar which is interesting to note. I have the US Vet's Ike jacket that brought back this SS General's uniform and some other bits and these items will always stay together. The display looks marvelous with a pair of white piped breeches and the matching visor.
A remarkable set in pristine condition. The display includes a transitional Eickhorn dagger, an early nickel silver buckle by Overhoff and of course the Allgemeine visor. Even the boots in the display are SS marked.
Complete with a sun-faded cuff title.
A fantastic ensemble of a prewar member of the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler. The Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler (LSSAH) was founded in September 1933 as Adolf Hitler's personal bodyguard formation. The jacket is constructed of fine early quality black wool in the cut of an SS officer's open collar service blouse. The piece features two pleated breast pockets, two lower flapped slash pockets and turn back cuffs. On the upper right sleeve is an Alter Kämpfer chevron indicating membership in the SS prior to 1933 and this is hand sewn to the sleeve. The matched pair of shoulder boards are meticulously sewn into place and show no sign of being disturbed. Both the silver bullion officer’s quality rune tab and the matching rank tab are neatly sewn to the collar. Applied to the left sleeve is a most beautiful multi-piece construction SS member’s armband. The flat wire Adolf Hitler script cuff title is machine sewn to the sleeve. A fine SA sports badge in silver is pinned to the left breast pocket. Also included in the display is an Allgemeine ET64 M16 with satin black over field grey finish and CA Pocher decals which was sourced from a Veteran's estate. The brocade belt is black wool backed and features an aluminum belt buckle produced by Overhoff & Cie. The reverse markings of the buckle suggest the piece was manufactured in the year 1939 and also features the OLC maker logo as well. A most impressive representation of an officer within Adolf Hitler’s personal body guard.
With the correct Kepi made by the illustrious firm of Holters, Berlin.
Directly out of the woodwork here in the US, this gorgeous ensemble was once worn by a Gold Party badge holder. Unfortunately the decorations were added by me for the display and while unnamed this piece is most impressive in my opinion. The rank is that of an Oberfeldmeister and I believe the unit was located within the Saar-Pfalaz (Westmark) region.
