Presented to Austrian SS member Rudolf Wehinger. A lovely Type-2 piece that's 1796 numbered and with remarkable patina.
This Lüdenscheid display was a recent find which came directly out of an English Veteran’s estate. The Knights Crosses are unmarked wartime Schickle pieces, I believe pre March 1941 types. The Oakleaves & swords are presumed to be Deumer manufactured pieces. The awards are sewn to removable backings, so I am unable to photograph all of the pieces at differing angles unfortunately. There is a lot of variety and time frames of production represented here in this case. We have early pre war decorations all the way into late war zinc piece. A lot of makers are represented in this set, and with the exception of a few, all Lüdenscheid region base. Products in the case are from S&L, Deumer, F&B L, FLL, and GWL to name a few. English-language plates were also sewn in for identification purposes and corroborate the theory that this was assembled in the immediate post war years for a British army officer who was senior in the denazification process. Interesting to note is the fact there is a Schickle produced Knights Cross with a set of Deumer oakleaves in the Shropshire Light Infantry Museum and this set is mounted on a Deumer card with their company “Bee” logo. A British General brought this back and donated it to the museum in 1946.
Special Adolf Hitler honor grade NSDAP gold party badge. Engraved on the reverse is the date of May 15, 1943. It is a common running theory that these would be presented for extreme acts of service to the party and would be engraved and presented on demand.
COMING SOON!! I have dozens of additional badges which I use for photo and uniform displays which are not yet showcased in this section of the website but I will get to them when time permits.

I absolutely love this classic combination which I actually bought off a good friend in the hobby. The patina on the KvK_2 is incredible and the Hindenburg cross medal was manufactured by the firm of C.E. Juncker, Berlin. I love the fact that both World Wars are represented by each medal here.
This particular example just oozes history and will be featured in Sébastien Talbot's upcoming book on the Radio Operator & Air Gunner badges. The badge is a classic IMME manufactured piece and the original wearer had the award sewn to a piece of uniform wool. The reverse exhibits perimeter stitching and this is how the badge was worn in the field.
